Principle Attorney
One of my clients was in an auto accident in January. The at-fault driver’s insurance company called my client to “take a recorded statement.” During the course of the friendly conversation, the helpful adjuster asked my client if she was injured. She said yes, she was. The adjuster offered to send her $150 “to get a few massages.”
A few days later the check arrived in the mail—along with a form she was asked to sign agreeing to release the insurance company from ever paying anything in the future related to this accident.
Helpful adjusters and friendly conversations? $150 in exchange for giving away all your rights to be compensated for your injuries and suffering is not someone looking out for you. Don’t fall for it. These insurance companies will stop at nothing to keep their profits and bonuses high.
And by the way, if you’ve been in an accident and the other party’s insurance company calls you, our Denver personal injury attorneys strongly recommend that you NOT agree to a recorded statement. If our office, we call recorded statements “depositions,” and your attorney is always present to look out for your best interests.
