The driver lost control of the car and went to the right off of the road and rolled multiple times down an embankment. The driver was sent to the hospital with serious injuries. The other three passengers were pronounced dead at the scene.

It has not be officially announced yet if there were drugs or alcohol involved or if the passengers were wearing their seatbelt, but drivers from a nearby car think that the passengers were not following safety regulations in regard to these topics. A witness says that they saw the car drive off the road in an unexpected manner. The witness says that they stopped to check on the car, but they could not find the vehicle. It was later discovered by police that the vehicle had rolled a great distance off of the road before coming to a halt. The passengers were all found outside of the vehicle. This was likely because they were not wearing seatbelts, as the police stated that occupants of cars who don’t wear seatbelts are very often thrown from a vehicle while it is rolling.

While it is with solemn hearts that we bring you this news, The Law Offices of Dianne L. Sawaya LLC, urges readers to learn from the details of this accident. Without knowing more specifics or details about the cause of this tragedy, we can all still learn from the mistakes that were made.

Watch your speed.

While rollovers may seem like a common occurrence, more often than not they are avoidable. Road conditions can increase the risk of rolling your vehicle, but speed is the leading cause of vehicle rollovers. The faster that you are travelling, the more likely you are to lose control of your vehicle. Speed limits are determined based on the road conditions, so if the road is in an area where it may be easier to roll your car, this is most likely taken into account with the posted speed limit. Abiding by these limits can help to ensure your, as well as passengers in your vehicle’s, safety.

Avoid sudden, frantic movements.

Sudden jerks or changes in direction with your car can lead to rollover. These types of movements should be avoided to the best of your ability. If you are trying to avoid another car or pedestrian, do your best to keep your vehicle under control through your movements. Many rollovers are a result of drivers quickly swerving to avoid an animal in the street. In most driving schools, it is taught that drivers should not swerve or make sudden movements to avoid an animal, and instead keep on a normal course, allowing damage to the car or animal.

There are many safe driving techniques that can prevent accidents like the one that happened on August 15th. However, accidents still happen. If you or a loved one has been injured in a motor vehicle accident due to the negligence of another individual, contact The Law Offices of Dianne L. Sawaya LLC as soon as possible.
