Medical payments coverage is part of your auto insurance policy, and every insurer is required by law to offer you at least $5,000 of coverage. Higher amounts usually are available. You can decline the coverage, but I highly recommend that you get as much as you can afford.
If you’re injured in a car accident, your insurance policy’s med-pay coverage will pay the bills of medical providers such as the ambulance company, emergency department doctors, the hospital and so on up to the amount of your coverage. There is no deductible and no co-pay.
The Denver personal injury lawyers at the Law Offices of Dianne Sawaya recommend having med-pay insurance, even if you have health insurance. You can get a lot of it for relatively little money, and you don’t have to pay it back to anyone if you use it. By all means, get it.
