I’d like to tell you a little about how we go about negotiating your settlement once we present a demand to the insurance company for a settlement amount.
The Law Offices of Dianne Sawaya puts a lot of time and effort into developing your case, all with the goal of maximizing the value of your settlement. The insurance company usually will lowball a counteroffer and try to avoid paying you what you deserve. Sometimes they’ll say you’re partly to blame for the accident and your injuries. Or they’ll say you had preexisting medical conditions just like injuries you suffered in the car accident.
However, we have provided them with medical records, police reports and more to demonstrate why your case is worth what we’re asking. We will have asked you for authority to settle your case for a certain amount of money. While that amount can change during the negotiating process, it’s an amount we both agree is fair and reasonable.
After a lot of back-and-forth with the insurer, we come to an agreement. Or not. If we can’t agree, you have the option of filing a lawsuit against the atfault party. That doesn’t happen often, though. We’re skilled negotiators and pride ourselves on being able to arrange a settlement that meets or exceeds the dollar amount you agree to.
If you have any questions about negotiating your case, give me a call and let’s talk about it.
